The English College has always used Palazzola as a respite for students during the long hot Roman summer. Palazzola has since opened its doors to many other people, offering a place of retreat, relaxation and holiday. However Palazzola is still very close to the heart of English College students, past and present. At the end of each academic year the entire College moves to Palazzola where students spend 2-3 weeks and receive various ministries such as lectorate, culminating in the diaconate ordinations.
Through the year groups of English College students visit Palazzola for development weekends, study sessions, retreats, a weekend break and other gatherings. Many other national Colleges in Rome also use Palazzola, as do religious orders, priests on sabbatical and special gatherings such as the ARCIC (Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission). Priests from the College often visit to say Mass and provide the sacraments for guests. All of this serves to strengthen and maintain the strong bond between Palazzola and the English College.
